Bel Shower Door and Platinum Glass: A Brief History

Bel Shower Door was started in February of 1973. The name "Bel" is an acronym for the three men who founded the company – Bill, Ed and Lenny.

Within two years of its start, Ed and Lenny decided to do other things while Bill continued to build the business. Thirty plus years later the business is run by Bill’s son, its 2nd generation owner.

Our primary focus has always been to provide custom made shower enclosures, mirrors and other interior glass related products for the new homes being built in the markets we serve. We work with many home builders including Richmond, Lennar / US Homes and David Weekley as well as numerous custom home builders. Much of our success is due to the hard work of our many dedicated employees and our passion for excellence. Several of our employees have been with the company for over 20 years. Our commitment to service has and always will be one of our top priorities as substantiated by our organization being honored with numerous supplier, vendor and trade contractor awards.

In February of 2000 Bel Shower Door moved into its most recent building on the south end of the Denver Tech Center in Centennial, Colorado. This is a 40,000 square foot facility that was designed specifically to meet the operational needs of our 50+ employees and fleet of over a dozen installation trucks serving the Colorado Front Range.

Early in 2003 the principals of Bel Shower Door were presented with an opportunity to expand into the Dallas market. At that time the principals of Bel Shower Door formed Platinum Glass Corporation to take over the operation of Lone Star Glass & Mirror and to service the Dallas market. In September of 2004 Platinum Glass moved into a 20,000 square foot facility in Plano, Texas to accommodate the growth of that business.

During the second half of 2004, it was determined that there were additional opportunities in northern Colorado and Colorado Springs. The principals of Bel Shower Door formed Platinum Glass Colorado, Inc. to serve the Colorado Springs market.

All three of these companies have the same philosophy and high standards of quality products and workmanship.
